25/05/10 - Fiji Water helps repair school

Vunimoli Islamia Primary School in Labasa, after so many years since its establishment in 1948, will be conducting maintenance works to its school buildings.
The school, after sending in application last year, received a $4500 donation from the Fiji Water Foundation - a charitable organisation.
The school has 10 classrooms and 160 students.
Head teacher, Elizabeth Matekiwai was happy about the donation.
“We needed urgent assistance to refurnish the school buildings, change the roofs and guttering system along other repair works,” said Ms Matekiwai.
She said in the past few years the school management had been conducting pockets of repairs in some buildings.
“After Cyclone Tomas we thought of building the school strongly to save the present facilities for our students.”
She said the repairs were expected to start soon.
Fiji Water Foundation manager, Molly Powers said it was the first school project for them in Macuata.
“FWF a corporate, social and charitable organisation side of FIJI Water is happy to provide assistance to Vunimoli Islamia Primary School,” she said.
She said the school made an application requesting for urgent assistance to carry out maintenance of the school.
“The school only has to visit a hardware company in Labasa to buy the required materials needed to carry out the maintenance.
“Our organisation reaches out for help especially for three categories like health, water and education,” Ms Powers said.
