Fiji’s leading water company Fiji Water yesterday donated close to $700,000 to NGO’s in an effort to help the people of Fiji.

Organisations including Children’s Heart Foundation, Project Heaven, Matainoco Village, The Good Neighbours International, Fiji Red Cross, The Gold Foundation, Nakauvadra High School, Navesau Adventist School and the Fiji Heart Foundation.

This was part of the company’s social obligation programme called “The Fiji

Fiji water director of external affairs and development David Roth said the company was excited to be celebrating its one year anniversary charitable outreach in Fiji.

He said in the last year, the company had funded projects touching people in 10 of Fiji’s 14 provinces.

In addition to being to being one of Fiji’s primary economic engines, Fiji water was fast on track to becoming a national leader in philanthropy.

The foundation was funded by company owners, Stewart and Lynda Resnick and also 700 employees and partners from around the world.

The aim of the foundation was to team up with local stakeholders and non governmental organisations to address Fiji’s development needs in three key priority areas.

These are improving access to and quality of education, improving access to and quality of health and improving infrastructure.

Ratu Inoke Talemaibua who represented the village of Matainoco said he welcomed the financial help given by the company towards its project.

He said Fiji Water had provided the village with over $30,000 for its various projects.

Dr Wahid Khan of the Childrean’s Heart Foundation said partnership with Fiji Water would see many Fiji Island children getting special treatment in India for heart diseases.

Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation representative Jay Patel said with the donation from Fiji Water, heart specialists would be able to visit Fiji and provide free heart surgery to all that needs them.

Fiji water looks forward to working with the community and organisations on their projects.

Mr Roth said the work of the Fiji Water Foundation was a manifestation of Fiji Water’s commitment to improving the communities which we live in.
